David Pryce

I started my career as a naval architect involved in structural design and have conducted design and stability assessment with regulatory bodies.

My passion for sailing led me into skippering vessels on Antarctic expeditions, Southern Ocean sailing and around the world yacht racing. I sailed on grand neo classics, purpose built expedition yachts and one design racers.

I have project managed the construction of round the world racers, commissioned super yachts and have refitted numerous yachts including the Blizzard, with which I voyaged around Antarctica.

I am experienced with aluminium, steel, timber and composite construction.

I was a shipwright on the Plastiki project, building a catamaran out of coke bottles that went onto cross the Pacific Ocean while I joined Don McIntyre in re-enacting Captain Bligh’s open boat journey of survival across the Pacific.

I am qualified with degrees from Australian Universities and the Australian Institute of Marine Surveyors.
